Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-15
Seula is a desktop image viewer developed by Juha Berglund (“the Developer”). Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data Seula does — and does not — handle.
Summary
Seula does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There are no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no user accounts. Seula has no server component of its own.
What Seula accesses
- Your image files and folders. Seula reads the images and folders you choose to open, so it can display, organize, rate, and rename them. This processing happens entirely on your device. Your files are never uploaded or sent anywhere by Seula.
- App settings and ratings/metadata. Preferences and the metadata you create (e.g. star ratings, color labels, flags) are stored locally on your device. Star ratings may be written into the image files’ own metadata (XMP), as is standard for photo applications.
What Seula does not do
- It does not collect personal information.
- It does not use analytics or tracking technologies.
- It does not transmit your files, metadata, or usage data to the Developer or any third party.
- It does not display advertising.
Purchases
If you obtain a professional license:
- Mac App Store: the purchase is handled by Apple. Apple processes payment information; the Developer does not receive your payment details. See Apple’s privacy policy for how Apple handles purchase data.
- Direct purchase (e.g. via a third-party store): payment is handled by that store as the merchant of record, under its own privacy policy. The Developer does not receive or store your payment card details.
Children’s privacy
Seula is a general-purpose application and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
